Condition-based specialist service

Headlight Restoration for Yellow, Hazy & Oxidized Lenses

Cloudy headlights do not all need the same process. Early coating haze can need a light correction, while yellowed or rough lenses may need progressively deeper wet sanding, machine polishing and renewed UV protection. Rosie Dazzlers confirms the condition tier before extra work begins.

Current condition tiers

Price by lens condition, not one flat number

Light haze / early coating failure

From $99 per pair
1.5–2 hr

Wash/degrease, light correction/polish and appropriate UV protection for early surface deterioration.

Moderate yellowing / oxidation

From $129 per pair
2–2.5 hr

Wet sanding, machine polishing and UV protection for more obvious yellowing or failed coating.

Heavy oxidation / rough lens

From $169+ per pair
2.5–3+ hr

Multi-stage wet sanding, machine polishing and protective finishing. Severe deterioration can require additional stages or replacement review.

Starting prices are CAD before HST. Inspection can move a vehicle into a different tier when the visible haze is only part of the problem. We confirm expanded scope before proceeding.

How restoration works

  1. Inspect both lenses for surface oxidation, pitting, cracks, internal haze/moisture and assembly damage.
  2. Clean the lenses and mask surrounding paint and trim.
  3. Choose the least aggressive abrasive progression that safely removes the failed surface layer.
  4. Refine and machine-polish the surface back toward useful clarity.
  5. Clean the corrected lens and apply the appropriate UV-protection stage.
  6. Reinspect the pair and explain the improvement, remaining defects and aftercare.

What restoration cannot fix

  • deep cracks or structural lens failure
  • internal condensation or haze inside the sealed assembly
  • reflector or electrical damage
  • severe crazing or deterioration through the material
  • damage that requires a replacement lens or complete headlight assembly

We aim for the best safe improvement; we do not promise a new-lens result when the damage is not limited to the exterior surface.

What’s included

  • condition assessment of both exterior lens surfaces and confirmation of the accepted restoration tier
  • washing/degreasing, masking and the least aggressive correction process suitable for the confirmed condition
  • wet sanding and machine polishing where required by the accepted tier
  • an appropriate UV-protection finishing stage plus result and aftercare review

What is not automatically included

  • repair of cracks, broken housings, failed seals, internal condensation or reflector damage
  • electrical diagnosis, bulb/ballast/module work or headlight assembly removal
  • replacement lenses or complete headlight assemblies when exterior restoration cannot address the defect
  • extra correction stages beyond the agreed condition tier unless we stop, explain the scope and receive approval

Before we arrive

  • Send clear photos from the front and an angle if the lens is heavily yellowed, rough or cracked.
  • Tell us if the headlights have been restored, sanded or coated before.
  • Provide a safe/private work area around the front corners. Rosie brings standard detailing water and power; unusual access, parking or local runoff restrictions should be noted before dispatch.

Aftercare

  • Avoid harsh solvents and abrasive automatic-brush cleaning on the restored lens.
  • Wash gently and follow any cure instructions given for the protection product used.
  • Inspect the lenses over time and renew appropriate UV protection as needed.

Frequently asked questions

How do I know which price tier applies?

Photos can establish a likely tier, but hands-on inspection confirms oxidation depth, coating failure and whether any damage is internal rather than surface-level.

Will the headlights look brand new?

Not every lens can return to new condition. Surface oxidation can often improve substantially; cracks, internal moisture, reflector damage and severe crazing remain limitations.

Why not just polish the yellow layer?

A quick polish may improve appearance temporarily, but deeper failed material can require sanding/refining, and the corrected lens still needs appropriate protection from renewed UV exposure.

Can I send photos before booking?

Yes. Use the photo-estimate path for severe or uncertain condition so we can steer you toward the right tier before the appointment.

Ready to check the condition?

Start Quick Book for a straightforward request, or send photos first when the lenses are deeply yellowed, rough, cracked or showing internal moisture.
